Musica Amata

About us

Musica Amata is a duo and a Music Society established by Antonina Lax (Piano) and Nicholas Browne (Flute, French Horn) in March 2007. Our first concert was on 25 March 2007 in Palace Green Durham.

We chose our name after the Italian art term "Donna Amata" (beloved lady) which is used to describe pictures of women loved by the artists who painted their portraits in the16th century. Our mutual love is music and so we chose this beautiful Italian name MUSICA AMATA.

The main aim of our society is to research and play the music we love and to convey to the audience our ideas and interpretation through our playing.  We are always interested in performing, not only the classical repertoire well-known by the musicians, but in broadening our experience and choosing new pieces by different composers from different epochs.
